Clark, who formed a partnership with Ashbel Chaplin in 1882 which became Clark and Chaplin Company; Joseph Fessenden Chaplin, Ashbel Chaplin's nephew and superintendent of the ice company who also served as selectman, treasurer, and in other official capacities for the city of South Portland, Me., as well as becoming a member in the Maine State Legislature; and Chaplin Corporation, a consulting engineering firm in South Portland established by Joseph Chaplin's son Merle Peabody Chaplin.
